What do you expect from a site that is hand-built?

I love building hand coded web sites. My personal web sites are always a work in progress. I build sites at my job and for an occasional client using several web technologies and content management systems, but I like to build my own site the old fashion way, by hand.

Oh don't believe for a moment that I use Note Pad or VI like I did years ago when I first started learning HTML in the 1990s. I do use Dreamweaver and Visual Studio 2008 to code pages because I do not type fast.

Designing a web page now days is still a challenge. The standard of CSS2 is still not supported in all browser equally. I use to just worry about Internet Explorer and Netscape. Now I have to look at IE, Firefox, Chrome and Safari. Currently I am testing this page in IE and Firefox. I like Chrome, but if this page does not work in it I am not bothering to fix it.

What is my work process?

Sometimes I start with a working layout generated by CSS Creator. Then I proceed to hack it into one that I like.

On some layouts I start with a Photoshp generated layout. I always export the Photoshop layout using the CSS generator for DIVs.
